            2010 SIMA award

            Deborah received the SIMA 2010 Excellence Award for Outstanding Volunteer in recognition of her role and foresight as a founding member, and her dedicated, tireless and diligent leadership as president of the organization for eight years, 2002 through 2010.



            Deborah Black wins a 2009 YWCA Woman of Distinction Award for Science, Technology, or Research

            “Deborah Black is a trail-blazing technology pioneer with a will-learn, can-do attitude and record of success that echoes the leadership, commitment and passion she brings to all aspects of her life and work. The president of D.Black Communications, Deborah is constantly seeking opportunities and experiences that will keep her up-to-date with the rapidly-evolving world of interactive media. She is also a founding member and current president of SaskInteractive, a volunteer-based organization that educates, promotes, and grows the web development & interactive technology industry. Deborah is also an active supporter and volunteer with many community organizations in Saskatoon.” – Pat Katz



            2009 SIMA Award

            munications created a “virtual archaeological dig” – an interactive educational animation for Darryl Isbister, a teacher at Tommy Douglas Collegiate in Saskatoon. The production won a 2009 SIMA Award in the category of Education / Learning / Training Visualization.

            In May 2008 the Saskatchewan Branch of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC) sponsored the first “Elevators” Awards with our animation created for Fluid Clarification capturing a Merit award in the Advertising/Website category.

            munications has won an Award of Excellence at the 2005 ACE Awards, the Saskatchewan awards competition for communications excellence. Our work for Hitachi Canadian Industries won in the category “Marketing Communications – Programs under $50,000.”



            munications receives a 2005 AMTEC award!

            munications, in partnership with Science West Inc. and eclecthink international, has won an Award of Excellence at the 32nd AMTEC Conference in Calgary, for a web-based educational program on sustainable transportation, “Getting Around: A Driving Force for Change.” This web-based educational resource introduces students and teachers to the effects of transportation on climate change and challenges them to become involved in reducing the environmental impact associated with moving people and goods.

            AMTEC – Association for Media and Technology in Education in Canada is a Pan-Canadian community of educators, media producers, researchers, librarians and other professional staff who work to facilitate and improve learning through the appropriate application and integration of educational technology.

            “Getting Around: A Driving Force for Change” was made possible with contributions from Transport Canada, the City of Saskatoon, The Saskatoon Foundation, Saskatchewan Environment, SaskLearning, UMA Engineering, munications, eclecthink international and the Canadian Society of Civil Engineers – Prairie Region.
